TOM Merritt, former head of NBC Sports publicity, has created a terrific computerized sports game that probably
doesn't stand a chance because it contains no violence, trash-talking or chest-bumping.
Box Score is a sports trivia game that combines the instant knowledge of "Jeopardy" with the strategy
of gin. We gave it a whirl one day and found it immediately habit-forming. In fact, we quit only because we got
hungry. In addition to home play, I can see this game being played non-stop in pubs and golf-course grill rooms
across the country.
Available in downloadable software or CD rom, it can be ordered at 1-(800) 334-2722. But again, it's for
real sports fans. It's not "All Pro Exploding Blood," the kind of computer game being sold by our sports
leagues in the name of their sports. |
